Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for an Electrical Power Engineer with extensive experience in power and process Industrial facilities, Food, Chemicals, Biomass and Renewable industry. The Electrical Power Engineer provides technical and project engineering support and is responsible to ensure the successful delivery of electrical infrastructure system projects throughout their life cycle. This role will lead or support the delivery of Electrical Power design projects for power and process Industrial facilities, Food, Chemicals, Biomass, and Renewable industry client’s primary located United States.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Single line diagrams, Schematics, Wiring diagrams, cable schedules and panel board schedule
  • Develop Short circuit, Load Flow and Arc Flash documentation using ETAP, SKM, or EASYPOWER Electrical Programs. Develop Power System Coordination studies and Relay settings
  • Resource Management and Planning
  • Quality control of all deliverables within the scope of Electrical
  • Interface with Project Management and Client and liaise with other project discipline
  • Prepare Electrical Equipment Specifications, Data Sheets, Purchase Requisitions and Bid evaluations for Switchgear, Transformers, power panels, MCCs and other electrical infrastructure equipment as required
  • Assist in preparation of power system cost estimates and defining scopes of work for project design and study proposals
  • Build internal and external relationships with key suppliers, customers and internal & external service providers or contractors
  • Work with electrical engineers, technologists and designers to provide electrical design and deliverables to a variety of projects
  • Prepare electrical designs, calculations and bills of material
  • Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations
  • Review Vendor Documents

Skills / Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university; Additional business management, project management or engineering training is beneficial
  • Prefer a Registered Professional Engineer with Lead Electrical Engineering experience or ability to obtain PE registration within 1-2 year preferred
  • Prefer 3 to 10 years’ experience with design of in power and process Industrial facilities
  • Previous experience (>3 years) in Electrical design in the field of Consulting Engineering in North America is a plus
  • Perform Electrical Design duties associated with project scope of work
  • Experience with the Electrical System design, System Studies, Relay Coordination, Protection & Control
  • Knowledge and Experience using some of the following applications: Excel; Word; Power System Study programs ETAP, SKM, EASYPOWER
  • Proficient working knowledge of the laws, codes and other federal, state and local regulations and guidelines, such as NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, etc. impacting the work in this position.
  • Familiarity with standards and regulations used in North American Electrical power & process industries
  • Previous experience with power and process Industrial facilities, Food, Chemicals, Biomass and Renewable industry is a plus
  • Liaise with other project disciplines
  • Be flexible with the ability to manage change                
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with clients and staff in a team environment
  • Must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision and still meet commitment deadlines
  • Good organizational skills, writing skills, presentation and communication skills
  • Willing to travel up to 25%
