Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions currently has a Water Resources Engineering opportunity available in Birmingham, AL. The position will be responsible for management and technical execution of projects as well as supporting business development in relevant service lines.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review hydrologic and hydraulic models and calculations to analyze river systems, dams, levees, bridges and culverts
  • Prepare technical reports that summarize analysis and recommendations
  • Oversee and conduct a variety of field work in support of hydrologic and hydraulic assessments and development of models
  • Oversee and conduct the collection, management, evaluation, and interpretation of data
  • Manage project deliverables, ensuring schedule and budget are achieved
  • Work collaboratively with other Wood offices on project related work
  • Identify and assist with development of water resources and civil engineering business opportunities
  • Assist in proposal preparation including innovative technical approaches and competitive pricing; and
  • Prepare and perform client presentations

Skills / Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates will have a BS degree in civil engineering or equivalent, preferably a MS degree (from an accredited program)
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • 4 to 8 years of relevant experience
  • Background in hydraulic modeling, engineering and storm water management is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in project management including budget, schedule and deliverable performance
  • Demonstrated experience working with municipal, state and federal government clients
  • Experience in Hydraulic Engineering, FEMA studies including LOMR / CLOMR; Channel Design, Stream Stabilization, Bridge Scour, and Hydraulic Design
  • Proficiency with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ARC-GIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and technical writing experience is mandatory
  • Candidate should have a strong interest in a career focused in Water Resources
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff in a team environment, as well as independently, under general supervision
  • Must pass drug test and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
