Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join our team in Houston, TX. The successful incumbent is expected to provide accurate, timely accounting entries, analysis and reports on assigned projects and business units to support the finance leadership team and the service line leader in the successful achievement of the Downstream Asset Solutions key business objectives; Financial, Risk Management and Project Delivery. Including the following;   financial targets; Revenue, Margin, OHD, EBITA.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with finance and project teams to prepare and deliver accurate, timely financial entries and reports for assigned projects and business units
  • Support monthly close processing; prepare and enter month end and other required journal entries.
  • Schedule work to meet completion dates and deadlines
  • Identify and communicate project and business exposures & risk
  • Assure that all assigned project accounting assignments are prepared and completed in accord with accepted professional standards
  • Monitor and report actual performance of projects to budget / forecast
  • Support the business line
  • Finance Training & Development as requested by the Director of Accounting and the Project Accounting Director
  • Support the preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable professional accounting standards and principles
  • Apply internal control procedures through the review of transaction documentation and other procedures as deemed appropriate
  • Identify and communicate deficiencies and recommend or take corrective action as appropriate
  • Support other related accounting duties assigned by management. Support internal and external audit requests
  • Finance Operating Manual

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA preferred
  • Eight (8) + years of relevant experience in accounting; Oil and gas project accounting experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish is required

  • Familiarity with US GAAP requirements
  • Strong work ethic, well organized and the ability to work independently without supervision
  • Analytic and reasoning abilities and strong numeric skills
  • Project oriented and driven to complete assignments accurately and on time
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to interface with coworkers of varying levels and functions within the organization in a professional and respectful manner
  • Gives and welcomes feedback; recognizes the accomplishments of other team members.
  • Reimbursable/Lump Sum project accounting experience
  • Business partnering mindset
  • Demonstrated experience with cost control & management
