Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure  Solutions has an immediate need for an Environmental Technician to join our team in Miamisburg, OH. This position requires performance of a broad range of field activities including performing Phase I due diligence investigations, Phase II and supplemental investigations to include environmental sample collection, basic operation and maintenance on remediation systems. Wood is dedicated to implementing all projects in a safe manner. Must have solid communication skills and the ability to accurately document field activities in a field log book. Must be able to budget time and resources. Successful applicant will interact with professional staff, geologists/engineers, as well as subcontractors and client staff.


The Environmental Technician will generally work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends. Some overnight travel may be required for up to two weeks at a time. This individual will generally work 70% of the time at a project sites, primarily throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance on environmental site investigation field work including: soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, soil vapor surveys, groundwater sampling, aquifer testing, and basic site feature mapping at various properties
  • Provide operation and maintenance of remediation systems
  • Field data collection and documentation for environmental site assessments
  • Supervision of remedial contractors and environmental service providers
  • Assist in preparation of reports of data summaries
  • Coordinate and manage project tasks
  • Perform office activities including project planning, subcontractor coordination, data compilation and presentation and report preparation
  • Assist project managers and senior staff with data summaries
  • Document investigation/assessment activities

Skills / Qualifications


  • Associates Degree in Environmental Science or related degree
  • 0 – 2+ years of previous environmental experience
  • Ability to use and calibrate field instrumentation to measure ORP, DO, turbidity, specific conductance and pH on groundwater samples
  • Strong writing and technical skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to balance a diverse and changing workload
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook and working knowledge of ACAD or willingness to learn


  • OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER trained

Physical Requirements

  • Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions
  • Field activities may require working in specialized protective equipment supplied by employer - Will lift equipment and carry laboratory samples which requires the ability to lift 40 pounds
