Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Project Manager to be based out of our Philadelphia office.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage mid to small projects, typically a major project or group of projects over $200 million revenue capability, which require considerable organizational resources and high levels of functional integration
  • Apply extensive and comprehensive knowledge of the organization’s work processes, business practices and the roles and functions of assigned project team members to plan, organize, direct and control all activities on assigned project(s)
  • Work closely and effectively with customers, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Ensure adherence to quality and/or safety standards
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding as-sold financial objectives, timely delivery and achieving a high degree of customer satisfaction
  • Perform work and make most project related decisions independently
  • Display sound judgment concerning the need to consult with management and other experts concerning unusual problems
  • Day-to-day supervision is administrative
  • While accepting responsibility for all phases of the project, recognize that the various department managers have ultimate responsibility, through the assigned managing and lead project team members, for the technical adequacy of the work and may, therefore, monitor the work related to their discipline at any time

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience following graduation in an appropriate engineering discipline, which includes successfully working as a Lead Discipline Engineer or Project Engineer on a project
  • At least 3 years of experience in the field construction aspects of the engineering and construction business
  • Minimum of 5 years actual project management experience on a number of projects, some of which will have been substantial in size or multiple projects
  • Overall, typically a minimum of 10 years career experience
  • Has established a strong network, good rapport, and has the sponsorship and trust of senior Wood management
  • Must be able to deal with a variety of domestic and foreign clients
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; listens and gets clarification
  • Understands business implications of decisions
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
  • Treats people with respect; works with integrity and ethically
  • Inspires respect and trust; inspires and motivates others to perform well
  • Solicits and applies customer feedback (internal and external)
  • Provides regular performance feedback to subordinates
  • Takes responsibility for own actions; exhibits confidence in self and others
  • Follows through on commitments; meets productivity standards
  • Willing to do what it takes to reach goals
  • Effectively manages day-to-day activities of project team members and communicates changes and progress
  • Coordinates projects and completes them on time and within budget
  • Delegates work assignments and matches the responsibility to the capabilities of the person
  • Provides regular performance feedback to subordinates

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and sit
  • In addition, may require close vision work and travel
