  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently seeking an Electrician II to perform a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy below 1K volts. In general, the work of the maintenance electrician requires well-rounded training and experience that is normally acquired through a formal apprenticeship program and on-the-job training.

     

    Pay Rate - $27.59/hr

     

    Key Responsibilities

     

    • Installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment
    • Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications
    • Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment
    • Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment
    • Exercise/Load Test generators with and without a load bank
    • Collect fuel, coolant, and oil samples on generators for analysis
    • Effectively communicate logic programs on various pieces of equipment
    • Provide subcontractor escort/oversight during the following: breaker testing, repairs and other services typically performed by the manufacturer's representative; generator repairs; modifications to original design of electrical distribution equipment; any service that requires proprietary software or access

    Skills / Qualifications

    • High School diploma or GED equivalent
    • Minimum 8 years of related electrical experience
    • Maintain a valid driver’s license
    • North Carolina State Electrical License
    • Must be able to:
      • climb/work from ladders and scaffolds
      • obtain/maintain proper security clearances as condition of employment
      • occasionally work after-hours and on weekends to support customer requirements
      • operate boom, scissor, and fork lifts
      • walk great distances to perform duties (>1 mi frequently)
      • work with minimum supervision and with other personnel and crafts
      • work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to changing priorities
      • work outside during adverse weather conditions
      • work in confined spaces and on roofs
    • Must have knowledge of:
      • current NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA electrical requirements
      • use of electrician's hand tools, measuring and testing instruments
      • CPR/First Aid practices and procedures
      • potential hazardous materials, SDSs, JHAs, and AHAs
      • MS Word, Outlook, Excel
    • Must have experience with:
      • working in research laboratories, datacenters, and other critical environments
      • Arc flash and coordination studies
