Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking Senior Certified Public Accountants to support the FEMA Public Assistance Recovery Program on an on-call basis. Provides government reviews of solutions for difficult problems and projects which result from new or modified operational and management concepts and requirements. Participates in intra-agency conferences; discusses management problems and needs. Provide advice and assistance on the theories and aims of new accounting systems, proposed programs, etc.


This is a fantastic experience to travel to new locations, meet new people, learn new things and help people recovery in their time of greatest need.


Will report to our Chantilly, VA office but work location will vary based on the project.


Key Responsibilities

As a Certified Accountant the specialist will review and analyze accounts as well as evaluating account balances, trends, and conditions to provide advice and guidance to public addressing project fund requirements. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide expert level professional and comprehensive knowledge in providing advice, guidance and overseeing the administration of accounting work that requires application of accounting theories, concepts, principles, and standards to the financial activities
  • Review processes, identify and implement operational improvements to enhance and streamline accounting services and reporting
  • Preparing written documents such as memoranda, operating instructions and manuals, training materials, briefings, and other related documents
  • Advise project managers on the regulatory requirements for analysis of program operations etc.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Must have successfully completed a degree in accounting and be certified with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience
  • Must be able and willing to travel to projects sites – 100% travel required
  • US citizenship required
  • Must pass FEMA background security check
