Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler’s Chicago Office near O’Hare International Airport seeks to add an entry level engineer to our Structural Engineering team, working within the Transportation/Infrastructure Design group.

 

The Transportation Sector delivers project solutions for ports, airports, roads, bridges, rail and transit across all of Amec Foster Wheeler’s geographies in the US and across the Americas. Our services cover the transportation facility lifecycle and include feasibility and planning studies; environmental impact documentation; roadway, bridge and structure design; materials testing and QA/QC; construction administration, inspection and related services; utility engineering services; geotechnical engineering and a comprehensive array of support services

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities include the design of bridges and other transportation-related structures or structural elements; Other structural engineering tasks may relate to the rail or industrial sectors
  • Occasional field assignments will be expected
  • Candidate will need to be able to perform analysis of bridge or other structural components in a diverse design team under the supervision of a Senior Level Engineer
  • Develop design plans and specifications for use during construction and ensure all projects comply with applicable codes and regulations
  • Must demonstrate the willingness and ability to work collaboratively and communicate as part of a diverse design team

Skills / Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of related experience in Transportation Industry
  • BS in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering required; Masters Degree in Structural Engineering also acceptable
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Experience with A.A.S.H.T.O. Bridge Design code preferred
  • Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD software preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to solve engineering problems
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy
