Overview / Responsibilities

Wood has an opportunity for a Survey CAD Technician. This position reports to the Survey Manager and is responsible for production of survey documents. This position based from our Kennesaw location.


Successful candidate will have a base understanding of typical survey products, minimum technical standards for surveying, survey data reduction, and platting law. A working knowledge of MicroStation with Inroads in relation to GDOT deliverables is required. Additionally, a working knowledge of Civil3D software along with the ability to reduce survey data in the survey data base is desired. The ability to adapt to our standards and procedures is essential. This position requires a responsible individual who can work with minimal oversight, maintain timelines and budgets, and assisting the Survey Manager in day to day activities such as preparing crew information, interacting with project managers and clients, preparing proposals, and various types of strategic planning. This is primarily an office position that offers an excellent opportunity for long term professional growth along with a diversity of project types to work with.

  • Staying up to date with drafting platforms and governmental requirements for survey documents
  • Direct and mentor junior staff
  • Participate in safety discussions and briefings

Skills / Qualifications

  • Ability to adapt to our standards and procedures is required
  • Acceptable experience as a Survey CAD Technician
  • Working knowledge of standardized field coding utilizing auto-line work
  • Effective verbal communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Understanding of modern Data Collectors
  • Working knowledge of various types of key surveying activities (boundary, topographic, as-built construction staking)
  • Can adapt to emerging technologies such as laser scanning and drones
  • Candidate will be required to submit to a drug test and background check, provide character / professional references and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy
