Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Power & Process currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Cost Engineer. Reporting to the Project Engineer, this position is located on one of projects south of Carrollton, GA. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in Setting up a control system and documentation for the project
  • Prepare forecasts, cost trend reports and monitor cost and budget forecasts on multiple projects
  • Must have a full understanding of the EVMS process
  • Report on deviations, underruns and overruns, and can make recommendations for corrective actions
  • Responsible for maintaining change control, cost reports, etc.
  • Work with project estimator, planner and scheduler and Client’s accounting staff
  • Coordinate and assemble the monthly progress reports
  • Work closely with client’s project manager and team leads
  • Can look at the needs of a project, create the proper cost management controls, and take responsibility for its implementation and management
  • Can provide cost control support to other Project Controls team members

Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years related experience in managing large volume contracts
  • Experience of working on EPC projects
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, detail oriented
  • Familiarity with typical engineering disciplines and documentation
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for managing / assigning work tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel
  • Self-starter; innovative; flexible with a positive attitude towards completion of assigned or ad-hoc tasks
  • Strong technical management abilities with initiative, decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities to analyze data, identify issues, recommend, develop, and implement solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple schedules and deliverables in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to organize, plan, control, coordinate, and effectively manage cross-functional activities
  • Extensive knowledge of reporting techniques including generation of charts, graphs, and timelines
  • Extensive knowledge of construction techniques and best practices in the natural gas industries
  • Extensive knowledge and application of risk, forensic and delay schedule analysis techniques
  • Extensive experience with Project Controls Systems for integration of cost and schedule
  • Extensive experience in evaluation and analysis of Earn Value Management metrics
  • Extensive knowledge of Project Controls Standards & Best Practices
  • Extensive experience in Cost Estimating Best Practices
  • Extensive knowledge with MS Office Suite including Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Projects
  • Excellent understanding of the application of Monte Carlo simulation schedule and cost modeling
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
