Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Civil Design Team Leader to join our team in Durham, NC. This is an exciting opportunity to manage a small and diverse group of civil design engineers with a strong backlog of work through existing clients. The Civil Design Team Leader will manage a team of professionals, providing both technical and functional leadership while supporting strategic planning, business development and sales to external and internal clients. Responsible for management of project scope, schedule and budget for key clients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide management and leadership for a 3-5 person team focused on civil design projects for a variety of clients
  • Supervise engineers and technicians through managing and prioritizing workload
  • Support functional management in a lead role including serving in the capacity of a direct supervisor
  • Serve as project or task manager for stand-alone projects or for assignments in support of large programs
  • Provide senior technical support throughout the execution of engineering projects
  • Serve as a resource to provide Internal Technical Review of civil design projects
  • Contribute to strategic planning, business development and sales
  • Lead proposals and pursuits
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships

Skills / Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering; advanced degree in Engineering or other related field preferred
  • 12+ years experience performing civil/site design and other related civil engineering tasks
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer licensure required
  • Experience as a Project Manager
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, written and verbal
