Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a Survey CADD Technician to join our Survey/Utility team in Charlotte, NC. Survey CAD Technician to transform raw field data from our survey crews into final maps and plans using computer aided drafting (CAD). Prepare surveying drawing and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards. Knowledge of boundary and topographical survey layout required. Ability to professionally interact with clients and staff is a benefit. Must be proficient in preparing boundary surveys, topographic surveys, site plans and mean high water line surveys. AutoCAD experience in the Survey and Mapping field required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work within multidiscipline design teams on wide variety of civil, civil / environmental and A / E projects, including site development, infrastructure, landfills, stream restoration, soil and groundwater remediation
  • Civil CAD / Design and CAD support relative to grading, infrastructure and survey design
  • Understanding of erosion and sediment control and survey design
  • Preparation of civil / environmental engineering construction and permitting drawings
  • Develop surface models, pipe networks and earthwork quantities using AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Understanding of coordinate geometry and land surveying
  • Drawing production and engineering support of documents for local, state and federal permits
  • Interact with coworkers, project teams and coordination with remote offices
  • Conduct work in a professional and ethical manner

Project Related Responsibilities:

All facets of surveying and utility projects including;

  • Collection of deed data for boundary surveys
  • Establish project control monumentation
  • Collection of topographic information for 3d mapping
  • Providing construction layout on Amec Foster Wheeler projects
  • Marking utilities
  • Vacuum excavation

Skills / Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer skills and technical competence
  • Maintain good client relations
  • Working on several jobs simultaneously
  • Commitment to work with other sections and divisions of Amec Foster Wheeler
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy


  • Prefer familiarity with utility locating
  • Prefer survey experience

Physical Job Demands

  • Performing work in a variety of climate conditions including hot and cold weather climates
  • Requires the use of hand held equipment
  • Must be able to work in a field environment and have the ability to travel as required
