Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Senior Architect to join our team in Miami, FL.


Duties include independent technical reviews, project scope development, field investigation, planning, specifications, problem and conflict resolution, scheduling, design production, marketing and business development. The majority of work is local / municipal and some federal projects including renovation, repairs and new construction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execution and supervision of projects involving the design of complex architectural structures
  • Preparation of programming, design development and construction documents
  • Develops, directs and supervises technical assignments
  • Maintains effective client relations
  • Identifies and defines scope, technique, price and schedule
  • Prepares, directs and reviews cost estimates
  • Recognizes and initiates business development opportunities
  • Prepares proposals with limited supervision; leads preparation of large-scale proposals
  • Designing architectural elements for facilities large and small
  • Design and development of architectural specifications and standards
  • Ability to coordinate with government representatives and regulatory agencies in all aspects of architectural planning, permitting, designing and construction administration
  • Provide technical and project advice and guidance to client Project Managers
  • Conduct comprehensive technical reviews of professional studies, reports and analysis
  • Collaborate with managers, other engineers / architects, construction project managers, legal staff, contract specialists and / or contractor personnel
  • Provide advice and insight on the resolution of unique and/or complex architectural problems and disputes
  • Provide technical responses for A/E and contractor requests for information and coordinate with client Project Manager
  • Execute architectural projects including on site data gathering and assessments, Charrettes, drawings, plans, specifications, design analyses, opinion of costs, studies, design review meetings and deliverables submission packages
  • Document Production and Control - Ensure production schedules are met and the presentation formats of documents meet company standards
  • General Liaison / Interface - Ensure administrative correspondence produced by company for clients is a professional reflection of the company
  • Personnel Direction/Management - Provide direction and administrative quality control to project team members to ensure project needs are met on time and within budget
  • Approximately 5% travel to project site visits in the US

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Architecture
  • Registered Professional Architect in the State of Florida
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience performing and managing architectural services in the South Florida marketplace
  • Experience in municipal, commercial, state or Federal project assignments
  • Experience with national building codes and all Architectural sub-disciplines (space planning for conceptual design, building design and interior design)
  • Must be fluent in the latest versions of AutoCAD, MS Projects and MS Office. Revit experience a plus
  • Experience in developing / reviewing design / build specifications and Request for Proposal's
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare reports, studies and proposals
  • Presentation and interpersonal skills as well as community engagement
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience planning, designing, directing and coordinating major, minor and renovation construction in accordance with South Florida Building codes (IBC, FBC, FFPC, and NFPA) laws (including OSHA Standards) and applicable regulations
  • Additionally it will be necessary to demonstrate strong management skills to meet rigorous contract goals and objectives (within the scope, schedule, cost and performance targets)
  • Ability and willingness to develop business from new and existing clients
  • Experience with educational facilities and LEED facilities is a plus
  • Must be willing to travel for assignments throughout Florida and out of state for limited periods
  • Approximately 5% travel to project site visits in the US
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy
