Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a Senior Project Manager with 15 years experience to support our Construction Remediation Group by managing large, complex environmental remediation projects. These projects typically require coordination of a large number of inter-related tasks and management of multi-disciplinary technical teams and subcontractors. Project size varies from $5 to $50M and may include performance-based contracts, decommissioning and demolition, sediment remediation, munitions clean-up and radiological decontamination. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, team-building and stakeholder management skills. The individual will have a proven track record of pursuing and executing environmental construction projects at federal government or commercial facilities

 

Work Locations

Chelmsford, MA preferred (Other Wood office locations on the east coast may be considered as well)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project resources, schedule and budget
  • Prepare proposals for large remediation pursuits
  • Ensure proper implementation of project safety and quality assurance programs and corporate policies and procedures
  • Work directly with senior-level personnel in interpreting the actual needs of individual clients
  • Determine required scope and level of effort of project work including the degree of completeness and precision to which project elements should be addressed
  • Coordinate site activities with Wood staff, contractors, subcontractors, agency personnel and client representatives
  • Exercise independent professional judgment not subject to close review
  • Maintain a high level of communications skill
  • Demonstrate a high level of competence in directing and managing large multi-disciplined projects
  • Provide technical direction to and mentors subordinate staff
  • Responsible for ensuring the Firm’s administrative and financial policies and procedures as well as the methods and procedures specific to his/her specific discipline are followed
  • Represent Wood and interact in a professional manner with client and subcontractor representatives while on field assignments
  • Understand, apply and oversee safety requirements in the field
  • May travel frequently to project sites including sites remote from the office as part of on-site team
  • Capable of providing an effective Quality Assurance / Quality Control role in his/her technical discipline
  • Effective at representing the firm in verbal presentations to clients
  • Meet with client representatives at the direction of more senior personnel, and conduct his / herself in a manner compatible with the firm’s professional standards and financial goals
  • Capable of preparing moderate to large sized multi-disciplined technical and price proposals for clients
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related environmental disciplined required
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant experience and management responsibility with at least 10 years directly leading construction projects
  • Experience with implementation of remediation projects including but not limited to decommissioning and demolition, sediment remediation, munitions clean-up, fuel systems demolition, radiological decontamination, emergency response such as to tornados and hurricanes, groundwater treatment plant, slurry wall and / or landfill cap projects
  • Experience leading field staff, laborers, equipment operators and other personnel on projects
  • Extensive experience with state and federal environmental regulations and regulatory negotiations
  • Good organizational, technical, writing, communication and team-building skills
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with subcontractors required
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Must pass 40 Hour HAZWOPER Training and annual refresher course, if required
  • Must have USACE 40 hour Construction Quality Management for Contractors Training
  • Ability to pursue certification/registration in engineering or geology
  • Formal project management training and PMP certification desirable
