Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler has an opportunity available for a Construction Project Engineer with our Tucker, GA office. This is a long term employment opportunity with the start being a field assignment in Carrollton, GA.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, promote and adhere to Amec Foster Wheeler’s safety culture and program in all work
  • Manage the construction project controls staff
  • Manage the EPC planning process from development of work packages through completion of deliverables prior to execution of the work
  • Manage the project change order control systems
  • Manage field staff including receiving and inventory control personnel
  • Manage team members who oversee multiple subcontractors including development of scopes of work, reporting requirements, schedule, safety and QA/QC requirements
  • Manage the support staff including office management and document control and administrative functions
  • Represent construction in the Procurement process from vendor selection through expediting and vendor quality control
  • Collaborate with engineering, technical specialists and the Client to insure accurate and on time delivery of engineering deliverables

Skills / Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering (any discipline) or Construction Management is required
  • Experience on major capital projects of $20M or more, required
  • 5 to 10 years construction or EPC experience is required
  • EPC Power Generation project experience required
  • Prior public utility experience is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required
  • Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling is required
  • Experience managing discipline field engineers, subcontractors and administrative personnel preferred
  • Experience in Project Controls roles or functions is required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, talk and/or hear
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands to type and write
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl
  • The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently inspect the project and will be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions
  • The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud
